Our Philosophy
We don’t see shark safety as a struggle against nature, but as a path toward coexistence. Safety in the ocean isn't found in a single product; it’s found in layers.
In workplace health and safety, risk is managed through a hierarchy of controls: reduce exposure first, separate people from hazards where possible, and minimise harm if an incident occurs. The ocean is no different. Leading shark scientists have described a similar model for shark-bite mitigation. The "Three P’s" framework proposed by leading researcher Professor Charlie Huveneers, suggests a hierarchy of protection that respects marine life while maintaining human safety. This has inspired us, and we’re actively innovating across all three:
- Perimeter | Awareness through Intelligence We are developing an autonomous drone surveillance solution and real-time detection technologies that monitor surf and swim areas for shark activity, issuing warnings before they reach ocean users. By seeing more, we can share the water smarter.
- Proximity | Respectful Separation We are also focussing on non-lethal solutions that create true barriers between swimmers and sharks. From exclusion technologies to personal deterrents, our goal is to reduce the chance of an encounter without disrupting the delicate balance of the marine ecosystem.
- Prevent Bleeding | Resilient Protection True coexistence requires a safety net for the "what ifs." Our legacy product, our shark-bite resistant wetsuits, are designed to minimise injury severity, ensuring that a rare encounter doesn't become a tragedy. We complement this with practical trauma preparedness, including specialised marine trauma kits we stock for use in remote and ocean environments, because responsible ocean safety means preparing not just for prevention, but for response
